how are you supposed to get an over affectionate cat to leave you alone every once in a while without being mean to it?

open the back door,a little tap on the back side, and hay presto, cat out. happy days
Have you tried toys for the cat? i do remember having a cat which got too affectionate and she was getting frisky. We had to have her sorted out at the vets. She went back to her normal self again. If it's not that i would consider your self lucky as most cats i know are either evil or they just don't like people and run away.

I spend most of my time at home cuddling cats, all mine are very very affectionate.
When I sit on the sofa, I have at times 3 or 4 cats all wanting a cuddle, but I wouldnt change it for anything!
Awww...lovely. We have 4 of them as well, and they're lovely and affectionate. x

serve it with curry sauce and rice
put its bed in a different room and leave it in there with food and water. It will soon get the message.
Well, there is only one thing cats love more than affection, and that is food! So the only thing I can think of is to feed it all the time, or allow your house to be overrun with mice, and then the cat will spend all day catching them.

Not very good advice, but think it is better than trakcab offering.
