My 2 year old neutered cat has had his 3rd eyelid over for the last day & a half. But he is eating, drinking, & doing cat things - his ears are cool, his nose is wet. He is in all other ways absolutely fine.
What could it be?

He possibly has something in his eye and really needs to be seen by a vet. Have you tried bathing it with cooled boiled salt water?
This happened to my cat and it turned out to be conjunctivitus(SP?)!!

Take him to the vet where they'll either give him a cream or drops. Administering it is another issue but the vet will advise.

It's both his eyes, both have the 3rd eyelid lowered. He's on my knee right now, purring & being contrite as I told him off for sharpening his claws on the couch. Not that he stopped doing it - he gave me his "Nah!" look.

He just sneezed, so it's off to the vet with him tomorrow, first thing. it could be the beginning of the cat flu.
Although he has been vaccinated for that, I'm not taking any chances! He is far too precious.
could also be worms as the fat pad at the back of the eye can shrink causing the eyelid to come over. cost me a fortune with different creams and drops before we found that out back in my youth when we had our first cat

Yes, it is worms. Not the cat flu - phew!
so glad it is just worms

Thanks ruthann.

His 3rd eyelids are still lowered, but the vet said it will take a few days to work.
