please help second sick fish
3 Answers
Hi, i posted earlier in the week to ask for advice about a sick goldfish, it died yesterday despite doing a water change and being treated with aquarium salt and anti internal bacteria meds.
Now one of the other fish is acting strangely, yesyerday its top fin was down but not all the time and he seemed a bit slow at times, today he is sitting on the bottom of the tank, only moving occaionally, all fins are up, but tail looks a little 'clamped' no other sign of illness.
whats wrong with this one?
TIA

It now looks like its dropsy, which we've been treating since before he showed any signs of illness, due to one of the other fish having it and dying.
This one is now in isolation and still being treated but it doesn't look good.
Thanks for you're response tho, and if anyone knows of any other ways to treat dropsy pls get in touch.

Was he in the same batch of fish when bought as the one that died recently? If so you might just be unlucky. Otherwise, keep water changing, test for PH, ammonia, nitrites, etc if you can.
Search on the web for "fish disease dropsy" and see what you find.
Is your tank filtered?
How big is the tank?
How many fish are in it?
How long do you have the tank lights on for if you have any.
Do you have a lid on the tank?
How often do you feed?
