i have 2 tanks, one has a simese fighter which ate a baby, so i moved them into the other tank with the gourami, is this ok?

yeah, think so. I had guppies with dwarf gouramis in anyway and they were fine.

Definitely don't put your guppies back in with the Beta fish, he will almost certainly attack and kill them. I have a female Beta and she's a vicious little bugga, the only thing thats housed with her is a bristlenosed catfish which is the only thing she'll leave well alone.

Yep...as with Boo...should be fine with moonlights at 3 months old.

Hey Boo....just had my 3rd Simese fighter spawning. The 1st lot are 3 months old now and are gorgeous.

Hi I am not a fish person (taste nice though) but I read the stuff on the link. I got confused.

***The girl fish lets the eggs go - does the proximity to the male cause this to happen?
***Does he fertilise them at this stage.
***He grabs the eggs and stashes them. Does he protect them or just bolt if/when danger approaches?
***He looks after the nest of eggs until they hatch. Does she just go away?

Yes the proximity to the male causes this...they go into an embrace where she releases the eggs and he fertilizes them. A female must be ready for spawning otherwise the male will kill her....and visa versa if the male's a bit of a whimp !!!! Most of her eggs are made inside her when she is put in the chimney...as this is the first time they would've seen each other (the sexes are kept away from each other at all times)

He will protect the eggs and nest against other fish but not anything like me approaching. Some fish, notably cichlids, will usually even attack a fishkeepers hand if it gets too close.

After spawning, she is chased away. If there's no shelter for her, the male will usually kill her.

HMan, ya beta babies are beauties, love the red and blue one at end :-)

I'm down to one female beta now out of three:-( The remaining one, as previously said is a real nowty bag and i've a feeling she was instrument in the other twos untimely endings. I'd dearly love to breed her, but that would involve more tanks, not to mention a male and I think Mr Boo will move out if I get any more....then again, on second thoughts!

wolf- I was never a fish person until a few years ago, I could never understand the fascination with pets you couldn't cuddle (well you can cuddle fish, but it tends to kill em!!!), but I've since become very addictive and I'm devastated when one dies on me.
