Mum and Dad took us on glorious summer holidays tho to Devon many years ago, staying on farms, i used to go horseriding, helping out on the farms etc. Devon is beautiful, have many fond memories.
You are right tho! Housework calls - can't make any excuses as it is still raining here but garden has now sprung to life! Birdies are as busy as ever - feasting on bits and bobs. Best get dusting!! xx

Hi all, good to see some familiar names, sounds like lots going on, if only we could see more than we do, love to hear all your stories, New Forest and Devon, how fantastic, both glorious in different ways, love the way the new forest keeps its traditions, and devon needs no introduction, I prefer Devon to Cornwall, doesn't seem as tourist orientated, and still so quaint, not lots happening up here in Windy North Wales, Woodpecker has been very busy, he is so timid, one slight movement and he is off zig zagging across the field, chaffinch, blue tit and robin are the only seed visitors so far, the lovely blackbird has had a splash in the water trough, and the housing estate the house Martins were building is now complete, and they have done a great job,so now we await the little ones, do these birds ever take a break, ?
The buzzards are flying bit lower today, suppose because of the wind, looks so graceful just floating about in ver increasing circles until they vanish, please keep me informed if anything happens, take care all and keep enjoying what we have, Ray xx

Hi Roaldo, how are you? thanks for posting, you also live in a glorious part of the UK, love the dales, in fact I just love Britain, thats brilliant about the swallows and martins, and as for the Barn Owl, you very lucky man, they are my all time favourite, we have some near us, but rarely see them, they are just so beautiful dressed in that ermine robe and they look so majestic and wise, as long as they are about I know my little bit of the world is not too poluted.
also love border collies, we had one for 10 years and she was a great friend to me, she listened to all my woes and never judged me, all she wanted was her head stroked, we shared many secrets, mind you I had to give her the occasional rich tea so she kept quiet, and she used to give what looked like a wink, as if to say, thats ok, I won't tell anybody, and she never did, a real friend,
enjoy the pleasure they give Roaldo, taker care and please join in with these threads, we are going to try and do one every week, Ray

Morning everybody from a windy, wet Norfolk. Springwatch is happening just a couple of miles from me (North Norfolk) and I am hoping to go down one day this week, but have to admit that I am not inspired to set foot outside the door at the moment - it looks more like November!!
Baby swallows are growing and are quite heaped up in the nest now with their pretty little faces peeping out and their not so pretty little bums depositing on our front door step at very regular intervals!!!
Once again all your posts have given me a very pleasureable read! You are lovely people!!
Let's hope the weather down south turns back into summer before too long. (We did need the rain though - just wish it would rain all night, every night and we would have beautiful days!)
And alfie and yogasun, I originate from surrey borders as well!!!
Take care. x

Hi all!
Been busy but a few moments just to say hi! Great to see Springwatch which I remember is near you LoftyLottie.
I want to go to Norfolk - mr.yogasun goes on birdwatching trips there based at Wells next the Sea. It looks brilliant.
May go later in the year. We were born in Dorking Surrey, lived in Reigate and Egham before moving to Devon 16 years ago.
Birds seem to be perpetually feeding in our garden and the blackbirds are feeding young and singing for their supper.
Clearing up now and warming up.
Take care all and keep posting xx

Hi all, thank you for still posting, so good to read all the stories, hope we can keep it going, you are so right alfie, we are very lucky to live in the beautiful British isles, every part has its attractions, Even the cities, I am from London, moved to wales 28 years ago and love it, I treat it as if I am on holiday, so every day when i go to work, I am going to work so that I can afford to stay on holiday, therefore my life is a constant holiday, no stress or worries, but when I was in London, I would sit in Holland park, kensington gardens or Hampton court palace, at the back of the palace is a strech of water called " Longwater" it is so peaceful and the wildlife is amazing, deer abound and are so restful to watch,
Here in North Wales it is cold today, the Martins are very busy still, lots of noise coming from outside, the nesta are now ready for occupation, so very soon, the little beaks will appear from the nesta, and then mum and dad will really work hard, today the only things I have seen are a Heron who landed in the field, had a quick look round and took aff again like a harrier jump jet, buzzards are still circling, with the crows hassling them, the buzzards seem very happy and relaxed and take no notice, woodpecker has been trying to get the hang of the new nut feeder we put up, he seems to stop for about 20 seconds then off again, he hasn't got the hang of the new one yet, hope he does though, cos he is a lovely thing to see, A friend said he had seen a badger at the top of the forest near our cottage, I am so excited about that, hope he ias in residence somewhere near, he will be really safe there as nobody but us goes there. will look out for him,
Thanks again everyone, take care all, speak soon, Ray xx
