Help please, my Bichon Frise dog over the last couple of weeks has started acting strangly and being very naughty. For a start she is let out every night before we lock up so she can do her business, but the last couple of weeks she keeps doing it in the house, she also has started to chew things and jump up at everything to the point where she caught a claw and made it bleed, she also has bitten my son and my neighbours daughter. She has never done anything like this before. My friend did come down about 6 weeks ago now with a male scottish terrier dog, and was wondering if maybe she had encounter and could be pregnant, it there anyway I can tell if she is without going to the vets? She has never been round a male dog before and I had no intention of breeding but I don't understand the way she is behaving, can anyone help, please.

Wait another three weeks and you will know for sure.

Was she in season when the dog visited? Were they left alone together?

Has she put on weight and are her nipples harder and pinker?

These are signs she could be pregnant, but none of the behaviour you have described is normal for a pregnant bitch.

I would suggest you get her checked by a vet because she could have something wrong with her, and she is biting and acting strange because she is either in pain or is in distress. It could be a phantom pregnancy, or even pyometra.

I cannot understand this reluctant to take a dog to a vet - although I don't take a dog without good reason, if there are any health worries I take them straight away.
She needs a vet check.

It could be any number of things - any sudden change in behaviour should be checked out by a vet as a priority.

Any good dog trainer will only ever see a dog with aggression issues AFTER it has been checked by a vet first.
I would also keep her away from children until you have had her checked over.

She has bitten twice, next time may be far worse - especially if she is in pain.

Thank you all very much for your help, I have already booked an appointment with the vet, as I decided that the way she has been is not right for her and worried there could be a health issue, so I shall find out in a couple of days what the problem this.
:)
Thanks
