I'm crying as I write this - my wee man died at 10.50h this morning. We've just buried him, next to the summer house, which was his favourite spot. K

So very sorry to read about your little wee puss.
I've just read the following story in yesterday's newspaper. It cheered me up and I hope it will help a little for you too.
A stowaway cat survived a seven-day journey from Hungary to England in a lorry - and gave birth to two kittens on the way.
Tabby Mia, two, had crawled into the Suzuki factory truck looking for a safe place to give birth.
During the 1,124 mile journey from Ezstergom she had the kittens and the family survived by licking condensation in the vehicle.
They were found when workers at another Suzuki plant in Milton Keynes heard miaowing from the lorry, and Mia leapt out.
Parts-buyer Francesca Robinson took the cats after six months in quarantine - and spent 3,000 on vet bills.
She said: 'I fell in love with them all and knew I'd do whatever it took to take them home'.
What a lovely story - I love to read about folk being kind to animals, it cheers me up no end. Hope this will help to put a wee smile on your face, even if only for a short while.

Again, thank you all for your sympathy. Chappie, that was a lovely story - I must admit, I'd have done the same. I'm a complete softie when it comes to cats! I've got 2 dogs as well, and I love them both, but cats have a special place in my heart.
I've just been out for a walk round the farm and I can't believe that Monty has gone - I half expect him to come running up to me, or jump over the drystone wall from the field over the road. He used to love playing by the pond, chasing dragonflies and he'd follow me and the dogs when we went out for our afternoon walk round the fields. K. Jnr has been great - he dug Monty's grave for me, next to the summerhouse, where he used to doze in the sunshine and we've put a big granite slab over it. There's a little statue, too, of a mother cat and her kitten, that used to be by the front door, but I thought it would be fitting on Monty's grave. I've missed him so much this last couple of weeks while he's been at the vet's, snuggling up next to me in bed (he was the only one of the 5 who used to get under the duvet & rest his head on my shoulder & lay there all night with me) and I'm going to miss him even more now. At least he was home with us on Thursday and Friday night. I still can't believe he's gone.

Kleiber, what a smashing life your lovely wee puss had. I looked after a stray cat for many years (turned our coal house into a shelter for her). I can't tell you how much it hurt when I had to have her put to sleep. I still get weepy thinking of her, two years on .......
After she died, my brother said this to me:
"At least she's free from pain now, up in catty heaven". It made me bawl even more, but of course, he was right. My lovely little puss was suffering, and I didn't want that for her.
Thinking of you at this awfully sad time.

Hi Kleiber, so sorry to hear that, they really do become part of the family don't they, I know what a caring person you are and how fond you are of all animals,he is not suffering anymore, he did seem to be getting better so it must have been bit of a shock, hope you are ok, speak to you soon, take care, Ray xx
Aww Kleiber,I'd read your updates yesterday, and I was actually thinking about Monty today. I looked on here hoping to hear good news, and I'm so shocked and sad to read this. We lost our Yasmin in February,so,i understand how heart breaking this is.But,you must be in such shock, cos he was just a baby really. I think you were right not to opt for the post mortem,I just wanted to get Yasmin home too. He's got his lovely wee spot in the garden, surrounded by flowers and shrubs and a wee stone cat figure over him. We love them so much, but, it's horrendous when we lose them. All my best and hugs,Linda x
