Hi! I bought some mince beef to make bolognese sauce the other day, but even though the best before date on it is tomorrow, it has gone grey-ish....I don't fancy using it in my sauce now!
Is it ok to give to my cat jessie, or will it make her ill? she is 10 months old.

Thanks! It just isn't very apetizing....
Why do I need to cook it first? Are there dangers with raw meat?
Max, ive just used 'grey' mince today to make a shepherds pie, done it loads of time and nowt up with us lot yet.

twitch........
mind, you like the previous person said, if you insist on being a girl over it, make sure ya cook it 1st before giving it to your cat.

If I give mince to the dog, I just boil it.

If your cat is not used to eating raw meat, then I would certainly cook it first. Raw meat might upset her tum. Just boil it up in a little water and simmere it for about 15 minutes or so. It will smell dreadful but Jessie will enjoy it.

However, I would still make a bologneise sauce with it if it smells OK. The other two replies on this thread are correct.

Thanks all!

Even Boo...lol I would normally use it, but I had food poisoning some time ago, and I'm still traumatised! lol

How about just frying it with not fat in a pan?
What, for the cat or yourself, Max? ;o)

I've already planned to cook a carbonara sauce instead now. And it can be Jessie's treat, after her horrendous ordeal this aftrenoon! ;O)
