Hey all,

My mums cat is getting on a bit at 13, and we are wondering about giving him cod liver oil in some form as his legs are getting old & achey!

Is tablets the best form or is it possible to by a liquid to put a few drops in his meals?

Thanks!

Hi, i got cat the same age and have some experience here. My little guy is 13ish and on Hills TD biscuits. He was on James Wellbeloved which contained added omega 3 and fish oils. when we switched him to them he seemed to get a new lease of life. Only problem was his teeth were bad and the TD's were recommended by my vet as a hard biscuit. I am not sure if the TD biscuits help with joints but the Hills science range do have other types. I notice no difference from when he changed.
I hope this helps as it would be less fuss than forcing a feline friend to take a tablet everyday.
Chrono :-D
When Che my first GSD was getting on a bit, I talked to the vet about the verious oils and suplements and she told me that a tea-spoon of any reasonable cooking oil added to his meals on a regular basis would work just as well as an expensive oil. Don't know if it was because of this but Che lived to the ripe old age of 15yrs and right up to the end he was as fit and active as you could expect a old boy to be. Max has had the same since he was a pup so I'm hoping he'll be the same. The oil so I've been told is also good for their coat.
Just buy a bottle of cod liver oil and put a teaspoon over his food. Cheaper than capsules. Oil in food also helps to keep the coat in good condition.
Sorry paddwak, I didn't read your answer properly and have repeated your suggestion.
