why does a dead fish weigh more than a live fish?

cos they can not get rid of the water in their body I guess
I don't believe they do. Have you actually tried weighing them yourself? However, if you kept a dead fish in fresh water for a bit it would absorb some water, and would weigh a little more. On the other hand if left on a slab in the sun it'd dry out and weigh less (smell more though).
