Camera problem photographing fish

No idea where to place this Q (wanted a hobbies section), so posting in a couple of places.

A friend of mine is a keen fisherman and likes to photograph his catches. Most of the time he tends to nightfish, so is having to use the flash.

Problem with this is that the fishes scales are reflecting the flash so the pics are coming out quite blurry. Any ideas how to prevent this? (he is using a digital camera)

TIA

I've no idea about fish, but there is a hobbies sub section under society & culture.
Try putting it under technology, which has subsections for computers, electronics, internet.
I'm not that long into photography, but perhaps a polarizing filter would help cut down the reflections?

There are plenty of photography forums around the web that would be able to answer this question better. Try googling a few.

He hasnt tried the torch thing yet (but will let you know if he does and what the outcome is)

He has now tried high iso and fastest shutter speed and although not perfect, it seems to have done the trick. It is alot darker now though so still waiting for another update.

Thanx all.
