Just in case the intrepid Ethel doens't return for a while, here's a few facts about the differences between sheep and goats.
For starters, biologically, sheep (Ovis Aries) have 54 chromosomes, while goats (Capra Hircus) have 60. Male goats have scent glands under their tails while sheep have glands under their eyes, but their scent glands are in their feet between the split hooves.
Goats have beards and pointed horns and the horns are located more to the top of their skulls than sheep, which grow more from the sides.
Remarkably, give tne chromosomal differences betwee the species, they can, rarely, interbreed. The hybrids are always sterile however...
