It is Sunday and I know my dog has been bitten by an insect and is distracted. What household remedies have you until I get to the chemist.

Do you know what sort of insect? And what do mean by 'distracted'?

For a minor insect bite, something like a mild bicarbonate of soda solution should help to neutralise it a little and sooth the itching.
I read that vinegar is good when a pet has an insect bite.
'distracted'? What would you get from the chemist?

If he has been stung by a bee/wasp apply some cortisone cream and if it is swollen and hot 'Benadryl', 1mg per pound of bodyweight.

If it is swelling though, and the dog is uncomfortable I would be inclined to call the emergency vets line for advice.

just had to let you know that my wee dog was not bitten but must have scraped through a fence leaving with a poor scrape on his back near his tail. Now I am just plastering him with medicated cream. Bless him!!!
