Isn't it supposed to mean we will have a bad winter or mild winter or something?
well if you mean like lots of berries for the birds to feast on means a harsh winter????

havn't got a clue about the conkers....sorry.

Around here (South Cambridgeshire) there's been a poor crop. A lot of the trees showed signs of having been infested by a particular moth, whose caterpillars attack them.The leaves were curling up and going brown long before Autumn.

I think you are right. Walked past the tree half an hour earlier today (on my way to work) and got loads.
Rubbish about conkers deterring spiders ... have tried it ... doesn't do a think to stop the blighters!
