Hi all thanks for your MANY answers, much appreciated. We bought the bitch last night, and she's a big softy, I know it's only early days however so I'm watching always! As far as I'm concerned with having my daughter around a dog is always on trial....the first time they turn nasty or bite for no apparent reason that's the moment I am rid of them, I love animals and am already really loving with my new bitch, but I will always see to the safety of others around her.
We did see the papers, but they would not leave them with us.
She is quite stumped for a DDB, this 'apparently' is due to a breeder breeding her on her first season which the owners claimed to be some other owner when she was 6 months old, and when she had the pups most of them died due to her being to young and the breeder who had her at the time no longer saw a need for her.
So she has supposedly resided with the next family (previous owners) until now, at 2 and a half yrs old.
she seems to have bursts of energy at times and gets excited, wags her tail and wants to be stroked, but mostly she likes to sleep. This dog is however very much overweight, her belly hangs quite low and her nipples look quite 'stretched' (sorry to have to describe like this but it's the only way I can think to give you a picture of her)
Her previous owners said they did in fact walk her regularly but fed her 3 giant bowls of food each day and whatever else she'd basically eat....she stunk very bad, her fur smelt horrible so the first thing we did after buying her was to bath her.
She still has the smell slightly but I'm looking to buy dog deodorisers etc to keep her smelling fresh and keep my home liveable! ;-)
Any idea what my next steps should be from here? should I get her insured before first vet visits, should I be contacting anyone to let them know the dog's now mine.
I got them to sign the document however that now states that she now
