A fine looking fella and what a great name.
How are you and your mum doing?
Question Author
I did try posting two photos of him but went wrong somewhere, this pic is a couple of months old. I'll have to borrow the OH digital camera and get some up to date ones.

Rosetta we're doing ok, mums missing her boy, she's finding it very quiet without him, though sam is proving to be a very chatty cat, he's not moved in on a perminate basis yet, though he's spending more hours indoors in the evening, but when 9pm comes hes asking to go out, hes a bit confused at suddanly being allowed to eat his food indoors, mums also not letting him stay in by himself if she is going out just incase of any accidents as we dont know if he's litter trained. But bit by bit he's easing himself into mums life. xx
He's lovely ,thanks for the photo.

Question Author
Jugglering.......NO...........lol
Well I am glad I belong to the CLUB my home is the same with the cat hairs, you can tell that our pets come before pride and that's for sure lol.g.
He really is a nice looking cat. His personality will be totally different from Big Ginge and this sometimes takes time getting used to.

As the winter gets a hold he may spend more and more time at your mums. Is there any chance that he also has another home feeding him or is he a stray?

Question Author
My mum does think he has a another home somewhere, one that feeds him like us, rather than a perminate resident, its a shame he cant speak and tell us. When he first appeared in the garden about three years ago he did once appear wearing a collar with a disc, so thats how we know his name is sam, no address just a phone number which mum did write down and them promptly lost, he then we assume lost his collar, which was never replaced.
Then we didnt see him for a couple of months, and we just assumed he'd been passing by or owners had moved away. But he reappeared and has been hanging round ever since, i could do with a minature camera to attach to him and see where he goes at night time, see if he does have a home or many feeding stations. We've never once encouraged him to stay in the porch, but then big ginge was the same, turned up, hung about, won us round, then moved in, we've even put a notice in the local shop in case someone was missing a ginger tom to no avail. Such indepedent animals, make their own choices.
I'm glad you are all doing well madboutcats.

LOL, he sounds like mine, I think she has slept on, and furred up, just about every surface in the house. She has just woken up, yawned and gone straight back to sleep again, occupying two human places on the sofa. What a hard life it is!!!!!!!!

I should add my mum has a large garden, many trees and loads of birds so theres many a cat who passes through the garden, either to bird watch or passing from a to b. Over the years there has been many, we even had a cat with her kitten turn up and she did try to move in, the kitten was very feral and we got the cats protection to come and rehome them. My mum must have the word cats hostel written over the door somewhere, they just know.
You could always buy him a cheapo collar and one of those little name tag containers and put your name and phone number inside the container, asking Sam's *real* owner to contact you, explaining that you have been feeding him and asking if that's ok ! If he does have a more permanent owner, they will spot the tube and hopefully open it up.

These are the sort of thing I mean:-

and just get attached to a collar
Cats can talk - he just choses not to. Why should he divulge his secrets.

My two have spent the morning beating the cr*p out of each other. Frankie always come off worse so I don't know why he bother's annoying his sister.

They are curious animals.
