Does anyone think the perpetrator of the sickeningly evil deed received an adequate sentence.

Hi Jen,
If you didn't see the newspaper article, the cat was struck, strangled, thrown against a fence, and then the body was dumped in a river to cover up the deed. Fortunately, the perpetrator was seen by a neighbour. Worst of all then went out helping to search when the cat was reported missing 2 days later.
The sentence was two years community order, 250 hours unpaid work, and to pay 360 costs and compensation.
I think the leniency of the sentence was a disgrace, when the possible sentence is something like 5 yrs and/or 20,000 fine.
He killed an innocent cat because it smirked at him?

I really can't get my head around that. Makes you wonder what he would do to an attention seeking, screaming toddler.

Bah!
It's just horrendous and I wish they would make sentences for these kind of crimes against animals harsher.

I can't even think about what he did, just awful!

I couldn't believe it when I read about it in the paper this morning.

What a cruel, evil, nutter!
It seems the Animal Rights Bill brought in, in April 2007, pushed by the RSPCA counts for nothing then. So much for legislation!!!!
I am sitting here, weeping over this
It is absolutely sickening......and so awful to know a loved pet died so miserably.
As for the sentence,,,,a pet is viewed as 'property' .....so I suppose the so-called 'value' of a cat is taken into consideration. A 50 moggy is not equal to a 15000 horse. Sick, isn't it.
did you all sign the petition jules 77 put on here sunday ? the crime was in australia but that makes no difference
