looks like a wired haired sausage dog but bigger? More bulky but still small?

There are two sizes of Dachshund (sausage dog) the smaller Miniature ones weighing under 11lb and the larger ones which are bigger and heavier and are more uncommon than the Minis.

There is also a breed called a Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit) which has a wiry coat, but comes in a lighter colour, usually white and fawn in colour.

Any more clues - colour? head shape? ears? length of back?

thanks lankeela! I guess your prob right in saying a larger sausage dog - they do look just like them ive just not seen alot of them around so i was just wondering if it was a different breed. Im going to google the other one you mentioned!

You can have a wire haired dachshund so maybe it's that.
