Cat lovers.

I have an old cat he's 18 going into his 19th year now and I think I may be loosing him. He has been doddery on and off for a few months and hasn't eaten since last Wednesday, anyway he seems to have forgotten how to drink. He goes to his water and when his nose touches it he seems surprised and it takes him a few minutes to get the hang of lapping. Has anyone else experienced this, it is as if he has forgotten what to do. I have had some advice from a vet who says that as long as he isn't in pain then just let nature take it's course

Pussnboots, I know how you feel, when my dear Tinker was so poorly, it really upset me. He was 16 and he would sit there staring into space as if to think I know I should be doing something but cant remember what.

Hello everyone, it's a very sad day for me my dear old pal Puss went to Rainbow Bridge at 3.45pm today. I can hardly see to type I am so upset. Thanks for all your kind words yesterday and today. Bless you all.........puss xx

By the way my other cat Boots is very sad, he has lost his brother and play mate.

Oh, dear puss_boots my heart felt condolences to you and your family, you have done the right thing and he had his family with him when he went, my mums big ginge who we lost a month ago will be looking after him over rainbow bridge, theres lots of mice to play with. I'm so sorry puss boots, I 'm glad you had a special day yesterday to cuddle him and spend time with him. Poor handsome boy sounds like he was tired out.
At the moment all you are feeling is hurt and loss but try and remember the happy times and his funny little ways which were unique to him. He will be playing in the fields over the Rainbow Bridge his whiskers twitching at the thought of all the mice he can chase.

hello puss i am sorry to read your very sad news how nice that you were able to have the vet come to you it will have made it so much better for you both, we did this with or dog in april , you have done your best for him now its time to make an extra fuss of his brother to help him get over it ,sending you love and a cuddle for brother puss ruthxx

Sending you hugs puss. It was obviously time to let your old friend go. He was a very old man and you must have looked after him and loved him very well for him to live that long. At least his end was peaceful when it came. Your other cat will need lots of cuddles now and I'm sure you will be doing that

We are all so sorry Puss has finally gone. Despite his age we are all a bit shocked - he has been such a big part of your life it's going to be wierd coming over and not seeing him.

You totally did the right thing. He is at peace now and no longer struggling along.

You gave him the life of a prince-:prawns, fresh chicken and oodles of love.

The girls send their love and hope you start remembering the good times you had with Puss soon

Hi again puss & playmate boots - so sorry to hear that Puss had to be put to sleep today after all.

I know you're very upset at the moment, as we were when we lost our beloved cats in times gone by, but at least you know he is out of any discomfort he may have been in & can now sleep soundly.

Think of all the happy times you've shared with him & I'm sure you'll feel a little better each day for it. -xx-

I am sorry that you have lost your friend. It is never easy - even when they are old and tired of life. I still miss my old cat, George.

I hope that you and Boots remember all the good times, and the funny times. It is also good that Puss died peacefully with people that he loved, and who loved him, around him.

what a lovely peaceful way to leave - surrounded by his loved ones and in his own home. I know how you feel just now, it's almost as if the world should have stopped but it doesn't and we have to face the future. In return for all the wonderful gifts of love and friendship he has given you, you were able to give him the greatest gift at the end.

Aw hon - you poor poor thing! Dont know if you read it on here but I lost my wee Tonka just a few days ago. I am sitting here crying for you (and me to be honest)
He was a lucky boy to have such a wonderful life and such a loving owner/mummy. Its just heartbreaking when we lose them.
I know exactly what you are going through and can only send you all my love and hugs x x x
