i saw a ghost tell me why it might be there

i saw a ghost that looked like a person she was old and had brown curly short hair. She was at my friends doorway staring at me i didnt say anything cause i thought it was there family. Later on i asked who she was and by the description i told them. They said it they didnt see her and it might be her grandma. She looked human to i would have never guessed that she was a ghost. Could you tell me why she was there and why am i the only one that saw her??
