Labrador dog

I went and stroked a lab dog (with owners consent) as I miss the one I used to look after, considering we'd never met before, she came and leaned onto my legs in an upright sitting position which surprised the owner too - what does this mean?
I know dogs usually jump around or sit still when you stroke them but this was a first.

Our lab used to do that. It usually means they want to be stroked or fussed over.

I am sure dogs sense your emotions and feel that it knew how you felt about missing your friedn

my rottie does this all the time, it means they are showing you that they trust you by allowing you to bear their weight. If you were to move suddenly the dog would stumble or fall.

They are very perceptive animals and the dog sensed you were a friend, it's a way on showing affection - our darling Curly used to do that - we lost her at Easter 2007 and have only just come to terms with buying another pup.

We were in Melbourne for Christmas and while there went out to look at a litter of pups - the bitch who had never met us before came up quite readily to led against both of us - needless to say there'll be a small curly black bundle arriving here before too long - can't wait !!!
