ok, i have been having some probs with my hob wanting to mate with my jill constantly, so following another ABs advice i decided to seperate them. I got another cage now, but have noticed that her lady bits are swollen, does this now mean she is in season, or is she pregnant??? I am going to leave her with him for another few days just in case she is in season to prevent any problems developing if she isnt mated. How would i tell if she is indeed pregnant? Many thanks in advance, sheribee xxx

Yes she is in season i was told that is called flannging (flanged up ) it looks horrible, Depending on when she was last served will depend on how quick it goes down, or if she is pregnant If she stays swallen for at least a couple of weeks you will need to put her back in with the male otherwise she will get iron deficency from staying in heat, we had such a nightmare last year with our ferrets, in the end once the jill came out of season I got her spade, it took us ages to reintroduce them as it takes 3 monthe for the tosterone to subside the constant screams of my little emma in distress from bobs harassment for a bit........ good luck

Will the swelling go down if she is pregnant? I dont want to leave her with my hob for too long as she is getting distressed when he drags her round x
I went to my vets today, and i was advised by the nurse, she was really lovely and tried her best to help, but just couldnt tell me how i tell if she is pregnant.
If she is then i will get him done, but of course if she isnt then i cant have him done yet to allow her to be mated to bring her out of season x
Hi,

I would take your little girl out as there is a good chance she may well be pregnant by now, How long has she been in season?

When you remove her from the hob please make sure he cant smell her as he will be climbing the walls with hormones........ Once she is removed wait for 10 days if the vulva goes down and stays down then she will have kits in 42-45 days, But if she stays large put her back in with the male for 2 days, Make sure they are well away from each other in the seperation time so that when they meet again she wont protest to much........good luck

she is still swollen, not sure how long she has been in season, so if i remove her now, and wait 10 days if she is pregnant will her vulva go down?
And can i bring them both out at the same time for playtime? Or do they need to be totally seperated for those 10 days, I kno they must be seperate for the preg and while the kits are around.
