The first lot of numbers/amounts are when you are trying to make him lose weight the second lot is for when he has reached his target weight.
Well that's what I am presuming anyway from what I read on the web page....
If in doubt ask your vet.
Hi, Confusing isn't it?

I read the first lot as the amount per day and the second table as the amount per feed at rate of two to three times a day.

Of our cats, cat with tinned food had three meals a day - approx 1/3 can at each sitting.

I have spare free minutes on my phone and was going to give Hills a buzz but they shut at 4pm. Grr.
If your cat is poorly, as you say. I wouldn't be worrying about how much to feed him/her. The cat needs to be seen by a vet to give you a diagnosis as to why the cat is ill. The vet will then recommend what/when/and how much to feed the cat. Hope all goes well.

growly... yes , i came to that conclusion myself in the end.
schutz... the food is actually on prescription from the vet cos he's been diagnosed with a urine infection, but i didnt notice the feeding instructions till i got home and ive pestered the vets alot in the last few days (bit neurotic about the poor cat!) and was embarrased to phone them yet again to check what i should be doing.

but thanks anyway eash, i realised after that i hadnt quite fully explained ;o)
mandimoo, I hope you have got over your embarrassment, and have phoned the vet again, for clear instructions. Even if you have phoned lots of times, that's what they are there for, and they certainly don't mind how often you call. The cat's health is their main concern and will be as helpful as they possibly can. Hope the urine infection soon clears up. Is he/she on any medication for the infection. Don't worry about being neurotic about your cat, as most cat lovers are just that. best wishes.

schutz, hes had 2 antibiotic injections, one on sat and one on monday, hes having a couple of drops of metacam a day and we started him on the prescription diet and in the last 24 hrs he does seem to be weeing more. as long as he continues to wee he will finish off the prescription diet and back to vet for retesting and i will post an update here for anyone who cares to look.
and long may he wee.......

Good luck on the diet - it is good quality food. Hope it is not too long before he is feeling much better.
Mandimoo. It seems as if things are starting to look up for your cat. Hope he continues to make progress. Give him a cuddle from me. And yes I would certainly love to hear how he's getting on, and hopefully you will be feeling less stressed as well. good luck.
Hope your 'poorly cat' is improving by the day, its awful when they're not well. It'll make all the difference to him that he has such a caring and loving human. TLC works as well as the medications do! All the best xx
