Soapy water will do it, just pour a bucketfull over your lawn, and wait, doesn't take long.
Never heard of the mustard thing. If you are thinking of earthworms, a good method is to tap the ground fairly rapidly in succession and the worms think it is raining and come to the surface. This is the method used in worm catching contests where the ground is marked out in squares (one square per competitor), they usually have one hour to catch as many worms as they can, and the winner is the one with the most.
Go out into your garden late at night on a damp eve... the Lob worms will be out... just pick 'em up!
I collected earthworms for feeding to goldfish in science experiments, years ago, by watering an area of grass about six feet square with a gallon of water containing dilute formaldehyde. The worms are irritated by it, and come out of their holes to wriggle on the surface, where they can be picked up by the handful. I imagine mustard or other irritants may work too. We got a pound or two of worms each time.
