Hey guys. Nugget, my rat, had an accident tonight whilst she was climbing things in the living room. The out come was that a candle and its holder fell on her tail. It is cut towards the end but not majorly deep. It is bleeding quite badly and she is in huge amounts of pain and keeps squeaking and licking it. Maisy, her sister keeps licking her and trying to comfort her but nugget doesnt want her too. We cant get her too the vets until tuesday because they are closed over easter until tuesday. I was wondering if you could give me some advice.

http://ratguide.com/health/wounds/degloving_in jury.php this seems to give good advice. i think the main thing is to keep the wound clean. sorry i cant help anymore, but hopefully the website will. i had a rat once, and he was the most loving pet ive ever had. i hope nugget is ok xx
hi, found this advice on wounds:
Clean all rat wounds with wound cleaning solution such as Nolvasan solution/Chlorehexadine, salt water or saline solution.
Try and get some of that liquid plaster stuff for kids from the chemist, paint her tail with it after you have cleaned the wound and it should help to stop infection getting in.
I don't have a rat but...for any animal try Liverine ointment.
I've used it on my cats and dogs for years if they got a cut or graze and it doesn't make them ill if they lick it. It can be bought from any decent pet shop and is not expensive.Looks a bit like Germoline (pink).
Hope that helps.
