i think a steriod injection killed my cat
7 Answers
is there a vet that can answer my question. my cat had pnuemonia two years ago, since then he had an infected ear, i took him to the same vet he injected dexafort and convenia without listening to his heart rate. my cat had a bad reaction, i took him back to the vet, who then listened to his heart and told me he had a heart murmer my cat spent two nights in hospital and although he lived another 5 months he was not the same bouncy cat that i loved. i'm not blaming anyone and don't want to persue this, but i would like an answer. i've spoken to the vet and he says it is not normal practice to listen to his heart, but i think if his heart murmer had been detected before the injection he would not have given it to him and he would still be here. would really appreciate an opinion.

I don't think any of our AB regulars are vets.
However it seems that you have obtained the infomation that you want from a vet.
It is possible that the jag might have weakened your cat. But you will never know for sure.
It may have been that your cat would have died sooner if the injections had not been made.
You did your best to help your cat and the vet who carried out the injection did so with the best of intentions.
It might seem cruel but you have to let go of the guilt and worry over your cats death. Trying to work out what happened might end up making you ill.
Best wishes.
