I can think of one beach which allows dogs all year round, and this is at Walberswick further up the coast in Suffolk ..... but of a trek from Basildon though ...... but the estuary around Maldon does have some sandy inlets (couldn't really call them beaches) but nice coastal walks with dogs .... you can park at lots of places along the estuary: Maldon, Heybridge Basin, Goldhanger, Tollesbury, Abbotsbury Farm (where the sea wall have been breached to allow salt marshes to reform) etc ... all are lovely .... also nice sandy (ish) walk from Bradwell on Sea ..... park up past the old WWII airfield just outside the village and walk out the the point of the coast to St Ceeds chapel ... beautiful place ..... miss it all lots .... moved back to the Midlands a while ago and love to think of all the old haunts!!
Also - I am sure the beaches on Mersea island are largely unrestricted especially if you go early morning or late evening.

I don't think most people realise how much they do for dogs and dog owners, they just believe all they read in the tabloids about how they promote sick dogs and unscrupulous dog breeders.

Hi,
Just round the corner from Walton, at the Walton end of Frinton beach you can let your dogs off the lead all year round. That beach is nice and sandy!
Have a look at the Tendring web site at the dog Beach ban page http://www.tendringdc.../DogBeachBanAreas.htm the diagrams on this page show the banned (and not banned) areas.
There are parts of Mersea Island that don't have restrictions Cudmore Grove on East Mersea is a good place to go and parts of West Mersea beach allows dogs all year round (see here -> http://www.colchester...name=Dog_Control.pdf)
Hope this helps!
Where did you get your SWD? I'm thinking of getting one but I'm having trouble finding a breeder in the area (Kent/Essex/Suffolk)!
Regards
