Frogspawn/Tadpoles

We had frogspawn in our pond, tadpoles had developed, they were still very small but were very lively. Then yesterday morning every bit had vanished as if it had never been there. Are they likely to have matured and dispursed overnight, or is it more likely that they have been eaten by something?

Perhaps your fish ate some (if not all) and the rest are in hiding, I'd have thought it unlikely that they'd all turned into frogs and left your pond over night though I suppose it is possible

Thanks both. I didn't mean I thought they would have become frogs overnight, just that they might have finished off the jelly and gone deeper into the pond to grow bigger.

Are you rural? Is it a big pond? How big are the fish in it?

A visiting heron can clean out a pond in one sitting.

To those who mentioned fish eating the tads - we have toad tadpoles in our pond, the fish try eating them then spit them out again, there are toxins in the skin of tads which don't agree with fish. But newts DO eat tads though - you may have newts in your pond.
