Very lucky indeed ladybird49 ! Good job there was someone who cared enough to rescue him from that smelly pit ! It's a good job he did not end up in the main Sewer otherwise he may have gone for good.
Lots of Gold Stars for Dynorod, and they didn't even charge for the rescue. I thin the little lad will need a strict eye kept on him in future.

Can't believe such a young puppy was left in the care of four year olds - it was an hour before the mother noticed it was missing.
Yes and why was it outside in the garden at a week old?
It was a ten week old Cocker Spaniel.
Oh, the Daily Telegraph....Mirror....Newstrack all must have got it wrong, they have reported it as one week old.Never mind , at least it's safe for now!
Four years old isn't so young as to not know you shouldn't flush a puppy down the loo. This child sounds very odd and needs to be looked at.
Poor little mite.

The BBC said it was one week old, and this footage seems to back that up (although how it can be a cocker from that bitch is beyond me). At ten weeks, most pups are charging around causing havoc and this lot certainly aren't.

I question the wisdom of the parents in allowing a child of that age to be with a nursing bitch unsupervised, though.
I'm not a staunch animal lover, but it really tugged at my heartstrings to hear this story. That poor little puppy must have been terrified.

I hope the mother of the silly brat gave him a good talking to. I know he's only 4, but why didn't he just put the dog in the bath, I'm sure he's aware toilets are not for bathing and did he just do it out of amusement.
What annoyed me about this is that the presenters of the news in our region smiled and laughed as they reported on this story.

I fail to see what's funny about it. I hope this sad episode sends the right message to parents who see nothing wrong in letting their small children 'play' with pets.
I also noticed the reporting of the story was done in a way, as if to say the whole event was amusing. Like they felt it was funny the boy did such a hilarious thing and then they went on to ask the him about it, almost like a reward. Has anyone actually told the child what he did was very wrong.
I hadn't heard about this, but agree with Velvetee. If you have a pet in the house alongside young children, it's the parents responsibility to teach them how to care for animals in a proper fashion. I'd have been horrified if, at 4 years old, either of my children'd done such a thing.
I have to agree with saxy,it certainly looks to be a week old pup(and most reports list it as such)
I don't think a ten week old pup would go down the loo.
What has to be asked is:~
What was a child this age doing with a week old puppy?
Why was it not with it's mother at this age?
Why did the RSPCA (who were asked for help) not remove the puppy for it's own protection?
The way the child (in the video) is fondling the puppy,it looks as if it regards the dog as a soft toy not a living animal.
The sooner we cull these sort of "owners" the better!
