Bird Book
5 Answers
My mum has asked for a book to help her identify the birds in her garden for her birthday, preferably one from the RSPB. I've seen one which seems ideal but I just wondered if there was a 'must have' bird watching type book that others could recommend. She's in the Kent area if that makes any difference.

I know Readers Digest can be a pain in the neck with their Spam but they do have excellent books for purchasing.
It makes no difference where you live in uk, what you need is a comprehensive book of British Birds which will help your mum identify any bird which visits her garden.
I'm sure if you Google 'Readers Digest' you will get a contact address for Book purchases.

Hello China!
As a birdy beginner your Mum doesn't want to be overwhelmed with stuff that wouldn't interest her - at the moment, that is - plenty of time for that later. THE book that would be right is The Mitchell Beazley Pocket Guide to Garden Birds by Dominic Couzens and Mike Langman. it really is a terrific book with plenty of information about garden species.

The other one which your Mum might like is the RSPB book just called Birds. It's published by DK, so the colour is superb. Either of these would be suitable.
