What a wonderful attitude some of you have on here. I was right earlier when I compared certain posters on this thread as no better than a lynch mob or even a pack of hounds baying for blood.
He will not only be prosecuted, he will also be subject to an internal disciplinary procedure, and his career will, to a large extent, be over. He will indoubtedly have no promotion prospects after this. He'll be lucky to stay in his job.
I'd like just one person to justify to me why this guy should be treated any differently in the eyes of the law?
All these pathetic and snide remarks about his occupation somehow having a bearing on what will happen to him. Complete hogwash. I personally know Police Officers who have been prosecuted, and convicted for various offences and the fact that their occupation was what it was never came into it, and rightly so. Some have lost their jobs as a result.
But all this hysteria on here about "what chances of a copper being done" / "whitewash" / "probably suspended on full pay" / "if he just killed a human protester, he'd get off without charge" / "he cannot expect to be treated as "just any other person"."
If these people could only hear what they're saying. The days of the "kangaroo court" is in the past, folks. Come down out of Cloud Cuckoo Land and smell the coffee in the real world.
Let's put this into perspective: he committed an offence which, because of his stupidity and thoughtlessness, had a tragic outcome resulting in the deaths of two beautiful dogs.
He has committed the offence of "unnecessary suffering" which, technically, could see him jailed for 6 months and/or max fine of �20,000.
But does he deserve prison? I think not. Fined? Yes, because that, combined with his wrecked career would be punishment enough.
Anyway, hands up all those who ever had a dog's tail docked in bygone years. I'm
