fish 4 a 15L coldwater tank

it is only 15 litres and hasn't got a heater but has a bulb which should keep it a little bit warm.

i am going on holiday for a week, coming back then going somewhere else for another week. so should i add the water and cleaner in that day i am back and by the time i return it will be time to add some little fish.

what fish would people suggest. others have said shubunkin but wouldn't they soon outgrow this tank. what about white cloud minnow?

Hi mollykins, I take it its a new tank you're going to set up. This should be fine, shubunkins get quite big as well as goldfish, fantails and orandas but fish like white cloud mountain minnows and danios stay small.

theres a few aquatic centres nearby so i'm going to have a look around them.

i looked at one of the centres nearby and they've got w.c.m minnow and rainbow plec.

however they weren't in the same tank and the fish expert wasn't there to ask if they can live together. can they?

or it might be a butterfly plec . . . not sure.

wel lthe sign said it lives in coldwater and grows to about 4 cm.

I would say a plec would be too big for the tank. Only small fish would be suitable otherwise the fish will become stressed.

for a coldwater tank is it 1cm per litre because i think i read somewhere its 0.5cm but thats about 1 little fish theres no point selling a tank that can fit 1 little fish is there?
