Thankyou for your answer recently wildwood about my marooned bellied conure that died at the age of 20. You stated that at 20yo a marooned bellied conure is just entering its mature stage, does that mean my conure did well to live at 20 or would he of lasted a few more years even though he was going bald on his back which you stated in the last comment that at 20 you can expect balding

A 20yo MB conure may be compared to a 65yo human.

You need to remember that captive birds can not eat the variety of foods that they find in the wild. Their food availability changes with the seasons and their constitution is geared to this. This variety is very hard to imitate with a captive bird. Aviary kept birds generally last longer than caged birds because of the exercise and lack of variety in the diet.
Most pet parrot type birds in cages die a premature death because of unintentional mismanagement.

To get a conure to 20yo is quite an achievement so you have done a good job of looking after your friend. Only very lucky pet owners or experienced aviculturists would get a MB conure past 20.
