Could it be the 'Hippo' in Africa that upturn boats & drown people? Only a guess!

Are you talking just animals, or do you mean reptiles as in snakes, crocdiles, aligators?

smudge - as the questionner has already said, the question is about all animals except insects and disease-carrying animals.

I agree that it is probably the hippopotamus.

the frozen chicken (salmonella, burns, cut from knife when carving, being struck on the head by.....no I don't mean that)
Fellow Humans I would say.
bernardo - would you please 'think' before having a go at my posts, you did the same on the WW1 thread - it is so patronising & you are not impressing anyone else but yourself.
BTW bernardo - I have informed AB Ed that I am sick of seeing your self opinionated comments about my posts. Other users post comments that sway from some of the questions, but I never see you poking your nose in with theirs - back off & chillout today eh?
smudge and bernardo - if you have a problem with each other perhaps it would be best to ignore each other for a while? There should be space enough on TheAnswerbank for you both to make positive contributions. There's no need to get personal on the site - and especially not to clog up Supernick's question (and email inbox) by posting here!
Smudge I watched a programme about hippos and apart from turning boats over they are very, very aggressive and kill loads of people!!  So I think you are right.  x

Just read Archbishop's answer, and I guess he must be right!

Fakeplastic - Thank you for agreeing that the Hippo may be 'the one.

Having said that I also agree with archie.

Some people can really antagonise, to the point of wanting to 'strangle' them - nothing personal of course!

AB Ed - Thank you for your prompt response. If certain individuals didn't spark off problems with their unnecessary comments, there would be no need to involve you would there?!

BTW bernardo - You underlined all in your reply to me, but unless I am going blind, I cannot see the word all in Supernick's question - hence - think before you post!
good grief...grow up folks...it's not school hols aiian, or is it???

What - not those cute cuddly hippo's....???  :-) OK so maybe not the best pet..... but they're so darn cute!

What about your snake or spider element? Because the question doesn't refer to people having to die, just injured.... thinking about it - it could be a family pet if that's the case....

oopps starting to rabbit on... sorry! :-)

I agree with Archbishop as well....

Good grief!  I am very surprised to see some of the comments in this thread since the last time I read it.

smudge - there is no truth in the suggestion that I was trying to be "patronising" or trying to "impress" anyone.  I am at a loss to understand why you have interpreted my answer in such a way.  If you have been offended by somethiong which I have written, then I apologise -although in this instance I have no idea what it is that I am supposed to be apologising for.  (I would like to remind you that I am autistic and therefore sometimes prone to causing offence where none is intended).

The reason why I emphasised the word "all" in my previous answer was because the questionner said "Which animal (discounting insects and disease carrying animals".  In other words, the only animals excluded from the question were insects and disease-causing animals.  There was nothing in the question to suggest that reptiles, snakes, crocodiles or alligators should be excluded as a possible answer, because the question referred to "animals", not "mammals".

My response to your answer was a perfectly reasonable one, and was intended to be factual, rather than "self-opinionated".

My response to your answer in the WW1 question was also straightforward and factual.  I was merely asking politely why it was that you mentioned something (the death of your grandfather) which was not related to the question (the use of propaganda).

Oh, and AB Editor - I can assure you that I have no "problem" at all with smudge.  I honestly thought that all of my answers were fair and reasonable, and I am at a loss to understand why smudge has taken offence to some of them.

I think I read once that donkeys kick thousands of people to death per year, so it might be the donkey rather than the hippopotamus.  But I can't remember if it was a proper statistic or just an urban myth.

bernardo - In reply to above, I had no idea that your were autistic. However, as I pointed out to AB Ed this morning - some AB users do tend to go off on a tangent at times & although you may have even posted on some of those threads, I've never seen you picking them up on it before.

In the future, it might be best to think before you post things that are down AB Ed to sort out. If he/she thinks any of my posts are irrelevant, he will no doubt edit or 'ban' them. Thank you bernardo & good day to you.

Are we any nearer to finding out what animal/mammal/ reptile or whatever, is mostly responsible for killing people yet?

Thank you smudge for your comments.  I really didn't want to upset anybody.  But anyway I am fairly sure it's the hippo and not the donkey.  I've heard the hippo answer numerous times over the years.  (If the questionner had not excluded insects from the question then the answer would be easy - mosquitoes have killed more people than everything else put together).
