can any one in the tyne and wear area advise me on what vets /spicialists do mri scans on dogs, my dog has a slipped disc and i need to know rougly thr codt of the mri scan, unfortunately due to credit crunch had to cut back on my spending and debits etd

down insuffolk the cost of MRI on a cat was quoted to us as £1500 BEFORE any cost for the vet to view it etc

MRI scanners are so expensive (around a million pounds) that it's extremely unlikely that any individual vet's surgery will actually have one. MRI scans on pets are normally carried out at the very few regional animal health centres that have such equipment. (Redcrx was probably offered an MRI scan at the Newmarket Animal Health Centre, which serves the whole of East Anglia). Such centres will accept referrals from ANY vet, so you should simply enquire at your local veterinary practice.

My vet has one, I asked for a friend a few months ago, they quoted between £700 - £1200. Try ringing round the larger practices, but most vets if they dont have one, would know where they can refer someone to.

It doesn't say on the Burgess Diagnosics website how booking of the mobile MRI is done,but if you ring either of the Vets I am sure they will enlighten you,and also (sadly) tell youi how much it will cost.Only Moorview seems to specifically mention MRI on it's website,but that doesn't mean that Croft doesn't do it.

thanks every one wew can be refferd to wear refferals in darlington area down the a1 so thats good and my sons gonna help to pay, and i think with a lot of ebay items well get hm some funds raised to pay for it, hes doing good on his 3 legs and with a towl sling under his tumm can get out for his business in garden , theres no way wed get him pts just because of this when its only his leg thats effected,were thers a will theres a way, and he had a Sugar start to life, thrown out with the rubbish, and fortunaleley rescued, and came to us, so his life has turned around weve only had him 2 years but he loves us to bits and we love the bones of him, my lovely noo noo

route we want to try a holistic approach ie chiropractic , acupuncture and hydrotherapy, he has regained quite a bit of use in his back leg, but still knuckles under on his paw, hes having cage rest an is not in pain, he nos when he needs to go in the garden and has full controll over his bladder and bowels so there is light at tjhe end of the tunnel,
