Can someone identify this animal/bird song in my garden

I have a animal/bird that has been coming into by Bornemouth garden between 19:00 and 21:00 every night and gives the following call

Thanks for that LL this answers alot as we have numerous foxes. But why does a fox bark instead of cry

I presume like a dog they their it equates to barks and howls, just different cries for different things. But I don't know.

Dave, it does sound like a bark so I guess the Fox is the culprit.

Definitely not a pheasant Webbo (I am surrounded by them, noisy blighters), but I am 99.9% sure it is a fox bark. Typical time for fox barking also when darkness falls.

I have had this fox bark now for about 6 weeks, previously I have had the cry http://www.angelfire....r2/thefoxden/call.wav but that is later in the night. Is the bark just to say "Im Here" and the cry for mating call

Perhaps your fox is lost ;o). Not sure whether it would be a fox cub at this time of year
