Pros and cons of deforestation

My child aged 7 has to write 4 pros and cons of deforestation of the rainforests but does not know where to start. Would appreciate any good websites that may be able to help him. Thanks

What a serious issue for a child of 7 to tackle, no wonder he doesn't know where to start.Can't help wondering instead of schools tackling global issues at such a young age, wouldn't it be more valuable for children so young to be able to identify some of the trees and flowers in the UK .But may be they know all this anyway.
Sorry have not been very helpful.

Of course there are pros. It's just that it isn't an overall pro for the world as a whole. Many countries deforested great swathes of land centuries ago, for farming and industry, and it helped create wealth for them. And now we know the global consequences we want other countries not to be so foolish; but the other countries want more wealth too. A case of, "You did it, why should we go without ?".
