Canary laying eggs?

The female has laid a egg which landed in the water bowl please dont say poach it,it looks like its trying to lay again will these eggs be infertile the male hasnt mated with her or has he?

are you sure? are they in seperate cages?

We had a female budgie that laid eggs on my husbands shoulder but as she was solitary there was no question of fertility.
Haven't you provided her with a nestpan and some nesting material? If the male is with her they will probably be fertile, they don't like people watching while they are at it. Don't laugh! The mating ritual can be quite intense thus they keep it private so the predators do not notice them as escape will be so much slower.
Canaries usually lay 4-5 eggs providing they have had the opportunity to build a neat cupshaped nest.
