My dog was sick earlier today in the garden and there was a fair bit of grass in there. He's been slow and listless today and when I gave him one of his favourite biscuits just now, he spat it out. He NEVER turns his nose up at food. Admittedly the weather has been very hot today, but that doesn't account for his being sick earlier. Apart from that, I cannot find anything wrong with him. Any ideas?

Hi NoM

I would'nt worry just yet, as like you said, he brought up some grass, weather hot too....he's probably got an upset tum......as long as he drinks a lot until he feels better......see how he is tommorrow after a good nights kip.

if he's still poorly, maybe a trip to the vets is in order, my lovely....get him checked out. xx

Yeah, I suppose you're right. He's just been drinking water, so that's a good sign. His nose is also cold and wet.
If he brought up some grass, must have had a feast on some earlier in the day...maybe that's why he's poorly......Is he still active......wagging his tail and "up"....or tired and restless?

The heat could be a factor too.....was he out in it for long today?......i'll see how he is tommorrow, sweetie ........hope he's better xx
Question Author
He wagged his little stump when I walked towards him, but he's really lacking energy or enthusiasm. I'll wager it's an upset stomach. I'll see how he is tomorrow. X
Hope he's alright NoM. Is he an old boy or a youngster?
Question Author
Four and a half, Lardy.
Let's hope it is just the heat then. Have you got a good vet near you if you need one tomorrow?
Still a nipper then.......dont worry yourself, lovely........he'll be fine, once he gets it out of his system.
xx

(Hi lardy :0) )
Hi yogi - what have you done with Boo-Boo (swoon)?
Question Author
Yep, there's a good vet about 10 minutes from here. I'm sure he'll be okay.
Fingers crossed.
Dogs eat grass when they have an upset tummy, it does help them to throw up what is causing them a problem. I wouldn't worry about him not eating, is he still drinking water?
Question Author
He's still drinking water but just refused a piece of bacon, which is unusual to say the least. He's now jumped on my bed which is a sign he's not himself.
I am an old worry bags and would give the vet a ring
Morning NoM. I see pooch still seems a bit poorly?
Morning NoM,

How's the lovely pooch this morning, sweeteheart?....any improvement? xx
Question Author
Hi folks, thanks for asking.

Well, good job I got him down the vets this morning. We got him on the table and I explained about the sickness, refusal to eat and diarrhoea. She stuck a cotton wool bud up his bum and it was covered in blood when she pulled it out. I pretty much fell to pieces when she held it up and said, "Sangre"... and naturally, I feared the worst. She seems to think he's eaten or ingested something toxic which has caused severe inflammation from his stomach to his bowels. He had a big bag of fluids, 2 injections and then a bag of Metronidazole. He's still got the needle in his leg and she told us to give him nil by mouth for the rest of the day. Providing he's not sick or has any of the other for the rest of the day, then we can take him back in the morning for his assessment. Fingers crossed ! X
Oh, NoM...bless him. I wondered why we did'nt hear from you today......seems like you've been through it. I will keep my fingers crossed that he'll be fine, honey and that the vet will check him out again tommorrow to see that he's better.

I think you should have a drink, and try not to worry, my lovely....xxx

I've not had a wink of sleep all night, Yoges. I've not eaten and I've been sick with worry. He seems to be a tad happier now, so I'm going to go down to the pool now and fall asleep with a very large glass of wine.

Fcuk... I sound like an alkie... X
Aaaaaw, hun..........that what owners do, sweetheart....worry about our pets.......try and get some rest tonight if you can.......hopefully good news tommorrow.

It's encouraging that you said he's a tad happier now.........maybe he's starting to feel better.

Please keep us informed how he is. my lovely....now go to the pool...relax and have that drink

love to you... the bear xxx
