we have a wild duck that has nested by our pond in the garden. She has now hatched out seven ducklings two days ago. How long before the babies can fend for themselves. Is there anything that we can do to help keep them safe. Also what can we feed them on. At the moment they will eat bread and the food that we put in for the fish.
aaah sweet... They will grow very fast!
I am feeding some babies - who's mother has now left them. They are about 7 weeks old now - and almost as big as the adults.. and are fending for themselves and fighting off other ducks for food.
you can have some of mine!!
I was being visited by 14 - and that number jumped to 25 this week as another mum came along (not a mallard duck - another type.. grey and pretty) and she had TEN babies...
There are only now 8 babies left - but they are TINY and are soooo fast.. their legs go like the clappers on the water!!! So fast you can barely count them all!!!
