At this time of the year i see lots of starlings, blue tits, great tits, finches and robins. Also the welcome blackbird and thrush. They are all eating off my elaborate bird feed. But come june/july and august they are all gone. I dont see the robins and the black bird/thrushes at all. I thought robins, black birds were native species and dont migrate. Where do the starlings and tits go to. why go in the summer when there is food aplenty here.

July and August are the slowest months for birdwatching. Generally the singing has stopped and it would appear they are being a bit ungrateful turning their beaks up at all the food that is provided for them on the garden feeders.

But in fact the opposite is true. There are nests to be made and constantly refurbished, numerous children to be fed and raised whilst on the lookout for intruders, so while some may  nest in our gardens, most of the activity takes place away from our eyes where they remain undisturbed.

Keep the feeders going though as parent birds depend on this nourishment to keep them going through this exhausting time, and will come to snack very early in the morning, probably before most of us are out of bed.

The birds are obviously enjoying feeding in your garden but as Cetti says they become very busy raising their families during the summer.  Maybe your garden doesn't have many places where they can build safely?  Where I live, my garden, & most of those around me, have hedges, not fences, trees & lots of dense or evergreen shrubbery. Consequently the activity hardly ever changes - in fact I can hardly keep up with them, especially the blackbirds who put away what seems like tons of currants during the breeding season!
Have to add that it's so windy here today (in Derbys) there are very few around - so if anyone in Lincs. has  all of my birds could you please put them on the train in the morning & send them back?!
