My dog, who is nearly 12, has never been very good at sleeping all night, but since my other dog died he has been worse. He wakes us up to go out, although he doesn't really want to go out, but we still wake up. Putting him in another room is not an option. Is it possible to buy sleeping tablets for dogs?
Many thanks.

Speak to your vet first, but you could try Valerian. It has a sedative effect on animals and humans alike, a lot of people use it around Bonfire month!
Be careful though...one side effect is loose stools....not nice. It also has a build up effect so needs to be used every day for a few weeks before you notice a difference.

He probably just wants a cuddle. My 3 year old mastiff sometimes wakes me in the night. I cuddle him without getting up and then he goes back to sleep. I scarcely wake up.
consult your vet. I wouldn't give my cats anything without making sure that the product is 100% suitable and licensed for animal use.

No way would I give a dog a sleeping tablet/sedative unless there was a medical reason and it was for short term use. There is obviously a reason he is not sleeping well, and I would speak to your vet.
