Disposable Dogs

Just wondering, as a result of something that has just been said to me today . Do pet owners consider their animals as part of their family or disposable commodities that can be replaced quite easily if anything happens to them?

Somost of us agree on that.

Can you love an animal much like you might love a human and would you put your dog's welfare before those of a human stranger. Be truthful - don't say what you think is correct!

Yes, I would Lottie. My dog, to me means more than a random child.

I just don't understand that anyone can talk of a pet dog as being dispensible because you can easily get another one!!!

I love my dog to bits......after my previous dog died I swore I would never get another as 2 years later I still get upset at the thought of her dying. However I was offered a dog who would otherwise have been abandoned and took him in and have never regretted it.
However, if I had to choose between saving my dog's life or the life of a child, I would save the child.

Are you really sure craft. If you had no time to think and the child was a complete stranger? It's easy to say but I know for sure I would insinctively rescue my dog first (not necessary probably 'cos she swims like a little otter and loves the water!)

Our pets are part of the family, but that is to say, we do not indulge them excessively and only give natural food to them, ie no chocolate or such like. Breaks my heart then they die!

I would be traumatised if I lost my dogs but know they would soon settle elsewhere regardless of my feelings.

There are kennels nearby that receive strays etc.....none have pined to death and unclaimed pets are/have been successfully re-homed.

Have you seen the price of vets' bills?

If your dog gets sick, the best thing is to have it shot, and start with a fresh one.
