oh dear bronners - you seem to have caught everyone in a silly mood today!
I had the same problem.. and suspected that the cat doing the harrassing was a stray... he was seriously upsetting my two cats and attacking them in their own home.. so I borrowed a trap - caught it.. and drove it all the way to Battersea Dogs Home (they take in cats too!) Hopefully he got a happy home! He hadnt been neutered.. and was always hanging about in horrendous weather.. so didnt look like he had a home!
I do feel bad about it - but my boys happiness was more important!!
Anyhow.. advice... you could fit your MIL cat with a special cat flap and collar that will only let her cat in and out... or find out who owns it and if its neutered.. it may not be!
You could trap it and get it neutered...
Tricky really.. but I know how awful it can be to have this nasty cat harrassing yours and spraying everywhere!!!
