Flea treatment for cats

What flea treatment do you use on your cat?

I've used Frontline for years on both of my cats but the last couple of times I've used it on one of my cats it's left a big bald patch where I put it on.

I mentioned this to the vet but they said it shouldn't harm so carry on.

Has anyone tried a natural flea treatment?

I use a treatment which does fleas/mites and worms in one pipette on the back of the neck. Works very well for my kitty cat.

i pick the fleas out with my teeth, natural and gives me a needed protein boost. the cat doesn't like it much though

It's called Frontline Combo - usually have to buy it at the vets and isn't too cheap but you get three pipettes and they last for a few months.

It is Frontline I've been using so wonder if this will be any different.

I use a herbal supplement for my dog called 'Billy no-mates' but can't find anything like this for cats.

Wow mccfluff, your cats sure must get a lot of fleas if you manage to get some protein out of them ;-)

they are very big fleas, almost as big as the cat, i named one jeffrey, before i grilled him and had him on toast

I also use Frontline,i buy it online it's cheaper.You can buy something called Stronghold, but i think you have to buy it at the vets,not sure.

I switched down from frontline to the bob martins dropper type it was a lot cheaper, so far has worked fine and tinkerbella hasn't seemed so bothered by it....she used to try and get her tongue round to the frontline so I think it may have stung a bit

i stopped using frontline spray on my dogs because one of them became sensitive to it and came out in wet blisters where I had sprayed. The vet suggested scalibor collars which have pyrethroid insecticide in them. Our big problem is ticks, not fleas and so far, touching wood, they work better than the frontline

Thanks for your answers. I didn't realise you could use csj's billy no mates on cats. Maybe I'll give this a try or Bob Martins as I guess this maybe isn't as strong as Frontline.

I can't see any sign of fleas on any of my pets but want to have them covered before they go into a cattery.

One of my cats is alergic to frontline,could be the case with yours.Some vets will say that [keeps them in business].I use a herbal one from pets at home and it seems to work ok for him.
