CATS DIGGING UP A GARDEN

I have a friend who has always been really proud of her garden, that is up until now. She has had her neighbours cat constantly going into her garden, doing a crap and burying it, the cat has been digging up her garden in other areas as well and she has failed to stop it fromdoing so.
She has purchased lots of things from the pet shop to stop it, but to no avail, somebody has suggested sprinkling coffee on the garden but it rained after she had sprinkled it, I wouild like to re-iterate that she has always been so proud of her garden but she can't be bothered doing anything in it anymore. She is in her early 70's and I feel so sorry for her and would welcome any advise that she might try as I know that her garden being in the condition that it is really depresses her.

A quick squirt from a water pistol should deter the cat...doesn't hurt it, worked for me with my neighbours cat anyway!

My friend uses "ZOO POO " it is what it says ,the thought behind it is that cats fear the smell of the bigger cats etc,also it is good for the garden also most of the money goes back to the ZOO's .It can be purchased from larger pet stores a Zoo or via the internet ,

What you need to do is scare the monsters away - using a water pistol/bucket of water is the best and easiest way.

The Lion dung is seemingly good - it tells the cat that a really, really big feline is living at that house.

You can get sonic scarers too - I don't know if they work.

Usually I find it amusing that we intelligent humans can go to war with such a small animal and loose. But it has obviously gone too far in your friend's case.

Let us know if any of the methods work.

Zoo poo works well. My in-laws use it in their garden and the have not seen one cat since!

I've got a sonic deterrent near my fishpond. It works brilliantly, only failed once with a deaf cat.

She's lucky they bury it. My previous neighbours had cats, and it must have been them who'd crap on my lawn and leave it, as it stopped when they moved.

I could suggest a 12 bore, but other than that it's difficult to suggest much. What works on one cat may not on the next. I did have a mains powered cat scarer out the back which had some success. But a multitude of different things at once is probably the best bet. Try citrus peel, and maybe try that lion's crap pellets you can get. Try the mains operated scarers that emit sounds inaudible to the human ear. I'm told mothballs also deter. I know you can get systems that squirt water when movement is detected, but that is difficult out the front. Or hide with a large flat shovel in your hand waiting for the culprit.

I've been plagued with cats using my garden as a toilet for years, after trying all the usual things for repelling the blighters I planted some Coleus Canina, the cats hate it! whenever they try to settle in the area and brush against it, they hate the smell it gives off. Worth a try.
