I bought a plastic flip top bin, and taped it to a drainpipe outside my front door and put a 'post' sign on it, so the dogs don't know when the postman has been. Try leaving the curtains closed if you are not there.
my boys too love to greet the postman and passers by. I don't worry too much as the postie just laughs (last christmas they got dog chews from the postie lol) and we don't get many passers by. Those who do come are either delivering or trying to sell double galzing and either way i don't mind the boys letting me know we have a caller.
However I have by accident discovered something that seems to have worked. Today we've got 4 husky men laying a new parking base at the front of the house. They are working within 3 feet of the front window and using pickaxes and a petrol stone circular cutter. At first the dogs had a good old bark which i and the men ignored totally. It took about 5 minutes for the barking to stop temporarily and about 20 for it to stop totally. after that they went to sleep, the dogs not the men lol. Could you get friends to come and be outside your window doing stuff and ignoring the dogs? It worked for me and might for you

My dog goes absolutely mental at anyone in fluorescent clothing, plus other dogs that walk past.. He's actually bitten a postman, I have now got an external postbox and new gates that the dog can't poke his head through. He's been neutered, I've tried the spray and also an anti-bark collar all of which have proved useless. He spends the entire day running between the driveway and the front window barking his head off.............
Should have made clear that my dogs bark at a window and never ever get to meet people unless they are calm and supervised...craft..I'd be careful if I was you. Private property can still be defined as public property under the DDA in certain circs, eg front gardens where people who have legitimate reason to access the house can enter.
PS the men have just come back from lunch, thw dogs have looked up and gone oh boring and gone back to sleep Result!!!!
