I was outside in the snow last night and my dog was very interested in these pawprints.
I was wondering if anyone could identify what might have left them.
They were approx 20 - 30 cms apart and interestingly loooked as if they were in a straight line instead of some being to the left and some to the right.which I would have expected to see from a 4 legged animal.

not sure, but is your dog wearing a cravat?

:o]
How big were the prints? I have to say without any scale it is hard to figure out what they are. They look quite like human footprints.
They look like human footprints that have been snowed on.
someone with wellies, who's used to walking on a catwalk.
A one legged yetti!

Very difficult to tell because of the snow and the bad light.
Don't get excited....................I have no answer for you, I'm afraid.

But I shall follow this thread with interest.......:o)

Can you describe them in a little more detail, the picture is quite small.
Can you get a close-up in-focus pic of the actual pad-print inside that deep foorprint?
the one legged beastie
It's just someone messing about. We get these threads every year after it snows.
A 2 footed snow walker, maybe your next door neighbour !

Oh - should have said what size they were!
The hole in the snow was approx the size of a mobile phone so way too small for human feet. It looked as if there was a pad footprint at the bottom of the hole.
Its a pity I couldnt take a better picture.
The fact that they looked as if they were near enough in a straighr line that interested me.
Don't want to worry you, but ...........

..but, your 'unidentified bug' is one of these ...

:-))
It's someone messing about. We used to the same when we were younger. We used to mould a foot out of plasticine, stick it on the end of my mum's clothes prop, then lean over the fence to make footprints in the neighbours snow.

It used to drive him crazy :-)
Don't forget that footprints are distorted in snow and the print gets bigger over time. Probably as something as simple as a rabbit.
^ That's not a wabbit............This is a wabbit;

That's why I want a photo of the 'actual' footprint and not just the scuff-mark.
a haggis.

NazNomad - I found out what the bug was thanks! I had put that photo on here ages ago when my dog had a very severe allergic reaction to something and I had seen one of those beasties around her before she got sick.

Thanks everyone else for your replies. I think I might rule quite a few of them out however! We live in the middle of nowhere so it was def some type of animal.
I did try to take a photo of inside the hole but it is really unclear.
