We've got a mouse in the house

And it's driving my 2 Jack Russells mad. I've bought one of them plug in rodent deterrents, but it hasn't worked. I don't want to put a trap down and kill it, any ideas anyone ?

You have to kill it, if you use a humane moustrap and capture it you have to transport that mouse a mile from your property before release, you can purchase moustraps that kill humanely they do cost about £30 though they electrocute the mouse in a chamber in a second, you are probably appaled at this thought however, you don't want it nesting and breeding in the wall cavities otherwise it will drive you all mad.
I got one of those tippy trap things from B&Q when one of the cats brought a live mouse in. It was a lot smaller than I expected and quite flimsy, very lightweight and I was a little dubious as to whether it would work.
In the end the little fella ventured out enough to get in a box where I left him to recover before I hoped to set him free but he didn't make it, probably too traumatised after the cat.

"You never get a mouse in the house, you get mice" not when there are cats around. The only mice I've had in my room are ones the cat brought in and lost, I've trapped at least four in the last few years - none of which came back (they were garden mice not house mice). I find it irritating to say the least that these sort of posts generate this KILL KILL KILL !! attitude with some posters.
Answerprancer much as I hate to say it, agree with all the posters who say KILL! Had a real problem in all the sheds recently, despite having a cat, they were getting out of control.
Also know a family who had a terrible infestation in the house cos they thought blocking holes etc would get rid of them eventually. You could hear them scurrying around the attic, and the droppings were in all the kitchen cupboards.
Btw milliepops, my JRT was extremely enthusiastic but didn't manage to catch one! Although he did sniff out a nest in the greenhouse.

I do tend to go for the kill when Mice are concerned for a reason, a mouse trapped in a humane trap is known to suffere immense stress and will often die from this stress, so quick kill is more humane In MHO.
Landkeela, Ive killed many thousands of mice and rats with my Jack Russells, but generally when mice are in the house the dogs cant get to them. What are Lancashire Heelers, some of the best dogs ive ever know for ratting and killing mice is the little Yorkshire Terrier. Not many dogs will kill rats and mice better than a JRT!!
