Lone Swallow

First Swallow of the Year arrived yesterday in my neck of the woods in North Wales, I normally get 2 every Year but so far only 1 has appeared. Hope it's Mate arrives soon otherwise there will be no breeding this Year !
Also it's a few Years since I have heard a Cuckoo around here as they are not as common as they used to be because of declining numbers. I'm not the greatest fan of the Cuckoo as they lay their eggs in other Birds' nests and the young Cuckoo fledgling then gets rid of the other eggs/Chicks. Oh well that's nature I suppose !!

I saw my first and lone swallow this year yesterday as well Redman.

Hi Redman, I saw my first Swallows today in Hants, but boy have they arrived in force masses of them. I think they knew Springwatch was netting in Portland last night, so moved along the coast and straight to the South Downs!!!!!!!!! :)

My lonesome Swallow has disappeared, have not seen him since Tuesday so I suppose he has gone looking for a mate.
A pair nest each Year under the eaves of the Shell Garage around the corner.
Hope they come back as it's nice to see them.
